Kerala University M.Phil. and Ph.D. Entrance Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil Programmes
  1. Candidate must have successfully completed their master’s degree in the related discipline with a minimum of 55% marks from any recognized university.
Eligibility Criteria for PhD Programs
  1. Candidate must have successfully completed their master’s degree in the related discipline with a minimum of 55% marks from any recognized university.

  2. Candidates who have appeared Master’s Degree Examination and whose results are still awaited are also eligible to apply.

  3. Candidates who have qualified in the National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) or lectureship of the UGC/CSIR or ICAR/GATE or ICMR JRF or the scholars who have been selected for fellowshipby the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment or the state level eligibility test conducted by Kerala Government are eligible for the PhD program
Exemption from Kerala University M.Phil. and Ph.D. Entrance
  1. Candidates who have a DBT-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, GPAT, Candidates/scholars with 7 years of experience and at least 2 research papers, candidates with DM/M.Ch. Degree, candidates working with Central/state government in the related areas of research.

Application Procedure for M.Phil

  1. Candidates are required to apply online by visiting the official website.
  2. Provide all the essential details such as: Name as on official documents, valid email id, contact details, details of qualifying degree examination etc.
  3. After the successful completion of the registration, the candidates are required to submit the application fee.

Application Procedure for Ph.D. Programme:

  1. Application forms for Ph.D. Programme will be available online on the official website of Kerala University
  2. Go to Kerala University’s Research Website.
  3. Click on ‘Online Registration”.
  4. The candidate must provide the appropriate details under Personal, Educational, Research & Fellowship details.
  5. Submit the application by clicking the 'Register' button.
  6. Candidates will now receive a user name and password for future login.
  7. After the successful registration process, candidates are required to download the application form and send it along with the necessary documents and fees to the Registrar. All relevant documents should be sent along with the application form to the following address:

Documents to be submitted with the application form:
  1. Master's Degree Certificate and Mark Sheet
  2. Candidates who have qualified from Universities outside Kerala University should produce a copy of Eligibility Certificate
  3. Caste certificate (if applicable)
  4. Candidates who have appeared for Master's Degree Examination and whose results are still a waited should send a copy of the Hall Ticket with the application. (Candidates in their Last semester/ Year will only be considered).

Selection Procedure for M.Phil Programmes
  1. Selection is completely based on their performance in the entrance examination conducted by the university and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The ratio of marks will be 50:50 and the merit list will be prepared keeping in mind the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
Selection Procedure for Ph.D. Programmes
  1. Selection of candidates for admission to Ph.D. program at Kerala University will be based completely on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance test conducted by the university.
