Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University

Malayalam University or Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University was established by the Government of Kerala in 2012. The primary objective of the University is the promotion of study and research of Malayalam language, literature and Kerala culture. Malayalam University offers only postgraduate courses and research programmes through the medium of Malayalam.

M.Phil

M.Phil course is designed as a preparatory course for Ph. D and other higher level research. It has to be completed in two semesters. A thesis has to be submitted at the end of the course.

Ph.D

The Ph.D course is designed to encourage a new culture of critical and intellectual exploration and is offered through the distinct research policy. Designed as a six semester programme, a Ph. D scholar has to complete a course work of one semester’s duration, and submit the thesis at the end of the sixth semester.

Admission in  Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University

Admission to all the programs is based on an aptitude test conducted for each course and marks in the qualifying exam. Admission to PhD is based on the marks obtained in the entrance test, marks obtained the Masters degree examination and marks obtained in the interview on a 50:25:25 basis.

University Library

The University which started in 2013 with only 5,000 books and a handful of journals and magazine. The library has grown substantially during the last four years. It now has more than 30,000 books and subscribes to about 100 journals and magazines (both in Malayalam and English). The University has a rare collection of more than 3000 books from various scholars and academicians.

Heritage Museum

A Heritage Museum is established under Museum Project that exhibits objects pertaining to the literary, agricultural, anthropological and cultural antiquity of Kerala. The museum also tries to place the legacy of local histories and culture alongside our contemporary awareness and knowledge. The exhibit includes archival records and items of cultural importance. This is a prelude to setting up an elaborate Museum on Kerala Heritage.
