Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit

Established in 1993, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit received UGC recognition in 1994. It is named after the illustrious sage and exponent of advaita, Sree Sankaracharya. The University also promotes the study and research of Sanskrit through the promotion of other languages in India and abroad that have contributed immensely to the study of Sanskrit. It is a non-affiliating University having jurisdiction all over the state of Kerala with the Main Campus located at Kalady and eight Regional Campuses at Thiruvananthapuram, Panmana, Thuravoor, Ettumanoor, Thrissur, Tirur, Koyilandy and Payyannur. His Excellency the Governor of the State of Kerala is the Chancellor of the University.

Admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes is made on the basis of the merit of the applicants.. Apart from this, the University conducts aptitude test and proficiency assessment for admission to the certificate programmes etc.

The research committee conducts interview for admission to research programmes. As per the regulations of the University, the supervising teachers are assigned by the research committee for guiding the students.
